Many visitors from
Europe
fly overnight into Dar to maximise
their precious holiday time. Kenya Airways, British Airways, Ethiopian Airlines
and Emirates all operate red-eyes.
For US
visitors British Airways and Emirates
both operate excellent connections from the Continental American flights, and
Canadian visitors usually use British Airways ( www.ba.com
) or Emirates from
New York
(www.emirates.com).
There are so many choices, the decision is yours.
You may wonder
why we have not recommended KLM who fly regularly from Arusha and
Dar es Salaam
. We have found KLM has two negative
issues that really affect divers. They
are so cheap that they charge 36 Euros per kilo of excess baggage from
London
to Dar, and they charge for any
excess. They give no leeway, and offer no divers Allowance. (Talk to Emirates
for a divers allowance). Secondly, due to the unique booking system that KLM
operate, it is often very difficult to change a return date for up to three
months during the European summer.
Tanzania
really has so much to offer. See our Tanzania
page or our Tanzania
Photo Page. We
invite you to wander through the pages and see what this large and diverse
nation has to offer the explorer. For, in
Tanzania
, that is what you are. You tread in the
steps of Livingstone, both in the bazaars of
Zanzibar
and the steamers of
Lake Tanganyika
.
A
slightly different travel plan might be worth considering. Why not combine a
dive holiday with a safari. We have a sister company www.swahili-savannah.com
that has walking and photographic safari itineraries. The emphasis of these
safaris is upon walking, animals and culture. For a truly adventurous safari or
a Kilimanjaro climb, we recommend you contact Cliff D’Souza, our partner in
the mainland at www.savannahsafaris.com

Kilimanjaro.

The majesty of
Africa
’s highest mountain is visited upon
Tanzania
, While we at Swahili Divers have all
avoided the climb, (We claim we are too busy) many of our guests have come from
the big mountain. There are many excellent companies that organise these
ascents, and they are too numerous to name here. We only deal with one company,
and that is Savannah
Tours. savtour@intafrica.com.
